When you need Regulatory Vice President with strong therapeutic area expertise

Client Background

This pharmaceutical company is committed to developing and commercializing innovative therapeutics to improve the lives of patients with serious retinal diseases. They have about 180 employees with approximately 10 people in Regulatory Affairs.

Challenge

Our client was seeking a Vice President of Regulatory Affairs to lead an upcoming NDA and manage teams across Clinical Regulatory and Commercial Regulatory. They needed someone with strong US and global regulatory expertise with ophthalmology drugs and a track record of successful NDA/BLA/MAA filings. They also wanted this person to have team leadership experience, and also experience in Regulatory Advertising, Promotions, and Labeling. Lastly, they wanted someone in the Northeast who was willing to come into their Boston-area office regularly.

Approach

Dennis Partners kicked off a Retained Search in mid-November to find qualified candidates for our client. We focused on Regulatory Affairs Vice Presidents in the Northeast who matched for having ophthalmology/ophthalmics, NDA/BLA/MAA, and global/ex-US experience. We recruited and vetted candidates that would be the best fit for their organization.

Result

Within two weeks of beginning our search, we submitted four candidates who matched the qualifications the client was seeking, including the candidate that was ultimately hired for this role. The client conducted the first round of video interviews in December before the holidays. The second round of video interviews took place between January and February, with final onsite interviews for their top candidate in early March. Dennis Partners checked the candidate’s references and helped to negotiate an offer. The candidate accepted the position and started at our client’s company the first week of April. Our client was thrilled with this outcome and the candidate is very happy in his new role.
