Regulatory Landscape Newsletter – May 2023

This is our Regulatory Landscape newsletter for May 2023 with our monthly insights on the evolving market for regulatory professionals.   

For the month of April there were about 80 new Regulatory positions posted at smaller biotech and pharma companies. This is down 22% from last month and down about 15% from April 2022.  About 50% of these positions were in Clinical Regulatory Strategy and roughly 30% were in CMC Regulatory, 8% were in Advertising, Promotions & Labeling, and 9% in Regulatory Operations. 

The majority of these roles (65%) were at Director level and above. There were only 8 new Regulatory VP/SVP positions posted in April (which included 2 SVP and 1 EVP role).  

22% of all new Regulatory postings were in California this month,  with 44% in Massachusetts and 10% in the NY/NJ/PA area.   About 21% of all new roles in April were posted as Remote and about 20% were Hybrid (remote/onsite).

There were layoffs announced at 18 biotech and pharma companies in March.

  • Regulatory CMC Director 
  • Regulatory & Quality Systems Contractor 
  • Senior Regulatory Consultant

And we are currently working on the following searches for our clients:

  • Regulatory Affairs Assoc. Director or Director (Philadelphia area or Remote)
  • Regulatory Affairs Contractor (Philadelphia area)
