Regulatory Landscape Newsletter – October 2023

This is our Regulatory Landscape newsletter for October 2023 with our monthly insights on the evolving market for Regulatory professionals.   

For the month of September there were approximately 70 new Regulatory positions posted at smaller biotech and pharma companies in the US. This is down about 13% from last month and down about 11% from last September.  Total postings for 2023 YTD (Jan – Sept) are down 8% from the same period in 2022.  Of note: Biospace’s Q3 Job Market report saw a 38% decrease in all biopharma postings for the same time.About 70% of these new positions in September were in Clinical Regulatory Strategy and 28% were in CMC Regulatory, 4% were in Advertising, Promotions & Labeling, and 4% in Regulatory Operations.  The majority of these roles were at Director level and above. There were only three new Regulatory VP/SVP positions posted in September.  About 34% of all new Regulatory roles in September were posted as Remote and about 18% were Hybrid (remote/onsite).  Positions in California made up 31% of all postings, while roles in Massachusetts fell to 16% of postings for the month. There were layoffs announced at 14 biotech and pharma companies in September.    We recently helped our client to fill a Regulatory Affairs Executive Director position in the San Francisco Bay Area and this month we are helping our clients to fill the following roles:
